Honestly, other than some equipment to easily denote ring boundaries, not much that's important. At least when it comes to sparring with only hand to hand. Other aspects of training are easier in a gym, especially if you need a practice weapon or something for your style.

I'm sure once some more time has passed it'll feel less weird. Or you'll have scheduled in enough stuff that you feel that you have less free time. One of the two.
[Perhaps it's a touch pessimistic to think it may be a while but... well, the last time Ashi got anywhere like this it was of her own volition. And lacking that power plus having a hunch she might just not be able to go back...
Planning for the long term gives her something to focus on besides inevitably missing the person she shouldn't miss. At least not without feeling some selfishness for it.
